Bill": Position was con gra veyed noting opposition by Smithfield Foods. Congressman Forbes advised he did not believe such legislation has much chance of passing,:.but he vNOUId monitor its status: . ._ • Federal disaster .assistance ..designation and .funding under the Livestock Compensation Program (LCP); It was noted by. Congressman Forbes that Isle of Wight County is included in the_new funding bill and that local farmers will be eligible for LCP funds. • "No Child Left Behind Act": Dr. McPherson advised that this legislation. constitutes an unfunded mandate for local chooi systems. Forbes advised that Congress was proceeding to reauthorize transportation funding -and requested the County forward to his office, as .soon as possible, a listing of local transportation. priorities.
