Chairman Edwards noted the County Attorney would not be present as he was delayed in court.: I/ Chairman Edwards called for a public hearing on the following: An Ordinance to Amend an Ordinance to Im Year ulLel,e1993 Isle of Wight County, Virginia for Fiscal J y throu h June 30, 1994 to Change and Correct the Asse sed Machinery and Tools to Remain at $0.95 per $100.00 of Valuation Chairman Edwards called for persons to speak in favor of the proposed ordinance. 1 Upon no one appearing, Chairman Edwards called for persons to speak against the proposed ordinance. County Administrator Standish distributed the Delinquency Prevention and Youth Development Needs Assessment and Plan to the Board and requested they consider i~ at their continued meeting of June 30, 1993. County Administrator Standish stated he met with the Commissioner of the Revenue this morning regarding office space for the Board of Assessors and the appraisal firm theBoard hired. Mr.~Standish stated there is one small room in the upstairs of the old jail that could suffice, but is not accessible. Mr. Standish stated the Commissioner of the Revenue and he would suggest to the Board that the County rent a modular unit for one year at a cost of $4,000 to $4,500 and place in on the .Courthouse grounds. Chairman Edwards suggested contacting the School Board to see if they had any available units. Mr. Standish stated he would check with the School Board, as well as independent firms, and report back to the Board at their June 30, 1993 meeting on the cost. Chairman Edwards stated the County .may have to obtain the appropriate permits to place a trailer on the Courthouse grounds. County Administratar Standish stated he would refer the matter to W. Douglas Casket', Assistant County Administrator/Community Development for his comments. Supervisor Cofer moved the Board direct the County Administrator speak with the School Board to determine the availability of a modular unit and obtain three quotes from independent firms on the cost of renting a modular unit for approximately one year. The motion was unanimously (4 0) adopted. // Supervisor Bradby stated he had spoken with the Chairman of the Electoral. Board and the County Administrator regarding the Pons Precinct. Supervisor Bradby stated the precinct is located in a condemned building and they are presently trying to find a suitable building between the Mt. Holly precinct and the present location of the Pons precinct. Supervisor Spady stated he would like to see these two precincts combined once an appropriate location. is determined.. Supervisor Spady stated if a half-acre site could be found, the County could place an excess modular unit from the School Board. Supervisor Spady stated that the Raritan building in Carrsville is raising their rent and the Electoral Board: is confident that if they raise their rent then so will the other places. Supervisor Spady stated the County should write a letter to the fire station stating the County did not. want to disrupt them but the other precincts are located at fire stations and they do not incur problems. Chairman Edwards stated there were citizens who did not wanusede fire station used and others who dtti advised tha the Ru an building is Chairman Edwards stated Bill Barr accessible to elderly citizens. // At 2:10 p.m., Supervisor Cofer moved the Board continue their meeting unti12:00 p.m. on June 30,1993. The motion was. unanimously (4- 0) adopted. Chairman Edwards noted to the County Administrator that he would not be able to attend the ground breaking aE the de-inking. facility at Union Camp because he would be in court in Newport News. -Steve W.
