CALL TO ORDER
Chairman McCarty called the joint work session of the Board of Supervisors and
the School Board to order at 6:00 p.m.
County Administrator Keaton provided a brief update on the Route 10 16 -inch
waterline bids and broadband initiatives with Prince George Electric Co -Op.
Brian Camden, Construction Program Manager, Alpha Corporation, provided a
briefing on the RMM study recently conducted on Hardy Elementary School. He
advised that the cost to renovate that facility is $23 million and the cost to build a
new facility is $32 million. The total project duration is approximately 35 months.

Howard Collins, Waller, Todd and Sadler Architects, addressed long-term goals for
Hardy Elementary School and how the RMM Study addresses those goals.
Daryl Rickman, Rickman Engineering, addressed the history of problems
associated with water and sewer at Hardy Elementary School.
Following recognition that solutions for both Hardy Elementary School and
Westside Elementary School are needed, Alpha Corporation was instructed to
conduct the same type of study on Westside Elementary School.
The consensus of the two boards was that a study like that conducted on Hardy
Elementary School also be conducted on Westside Elementary School.
At the request of Supervisor Rosie, Dr. Thornton advised that the School Division
does have funds in its Capital Maintenance Budget to pay for the study for
Westside Elementary School.
School Board member Perkins thanked the Board for inviting the School Board to
the active shooter exercise.
