CONTINC7ED MEETING OF THE ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HELD THE 'FIRST DAY OF

Chairman Claud convened the continued meeting at 6:05 p.m. at
The Smithfield Center and welcomed. those in attendance. He advised
that the purpose of this meeting was for the Board of Supervisors to
conduct its annual retreat.
County Administrator Caskey provided a brief overview of the
retreat agenda and objectives for the Board's Strategic Planning
Session. Debbie Sivertson, Administrative Analyst, .then presented the
components of the Draft Strategic Plan of Action.
Supervisor Bradshaw noted that specific action plans within each
of the goal areas will need to be developed.
The Board generally acknowledged the need for formulating a
legislative action plan for. advocacy of legislation needed: by the County
(e.g., cigarette and severance taxing authority). Supervisor MacManus

noted that mailings could be distributed prior to the VACo committee
meetings scheduled for Maya
The Board reviewed and discussed the various components of the
Draft Strategic Action.Plan affected by the Department of Planning and
Zoning .with Jonathan W. Hartley, Director of Planning and Zoning..
At 9:00 p.m., Supervisor.. Clark made a motion to continue the
Board meeting to .8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at The
Smithfield Center. The motion was unanimously adopted by the
Board.
